March 1 Battle Scars

This week was awesome! Unfortunately it came with some damage to my body😂

On Monday I ran into a wall with my head. I was wearing a hat and there's a pin on said hat. The pin ran into my head and cut my scalp open. Bled a lot since it's a head wound. Then on Friday we were grappling as young men do. I got a cut under my eye and a scratch on my heel, as well as a rug burn on my wrist. Fun stuff. Then on Saturday we were at the park and I got spun around on the swing and at some point the chain of the swing pinched my arm and I knew it hurt a little. Once I got home and changed into my sleep attire I noticed a sizable gash on my forearm from where the chain pinched me.

Despite all of it I'm okay and the work I've been able to do has been unaffected.

Just like that I can share my testimony that The Lord will continue his will without interruption. As we strive to be workers for God and tools in his hand, we may get dinged up but we will still get the job done.

I love you all, talk to you later!

Miracles are alive and well! I know miracles seem like a fantastical thing that are ancient and no longer the norm. But what I've found is that the norm of SEEING miracles is what has changed. This week I lost my wallet. Which is an altoids can... You can imagine my fear and worry behind that. I thought for sure it'd be gone. However we said a prayer and asked for help to find it. After a mild freak out-too late for us to go outside anymore-we slept on it and started our search in the morning. The second place we looked- it was right there half buried in the snow.

So with this email, I want all you readers to be on the lookout for those miracles this week. It doesn't have to be a sea parting. It doesn't have to be an entire population of people being freed from bondage. It can be as simple as finding something that was lost, repairing a relationship that was harmed, or even rebuilding faith in a concept you once lost hope in. This week, look out for those things, those miracles that can be found in our everyday lives. I love you all and pray that you may see them easier this week as you attempt to see God's hand in your lives.

Snow and also really cold

Okay, how's everyone doing this beautiful day?!

I'm doing fantastic! Despite being in single digit temperatures basically all week. So the other morning it was 9 degrees outside with a windchill making it feel like -8! ❄️🥶

We are still out and about doing our thing! One cool and unique finding opportunity is out on the frozen lake! We have met a handful of people who were either ice fishing or were out skating on the lake! It's been super cool to see these unique interesting hobbies in action and be able to meet new people!

Spiritual thought for the day, we have a recent convert to the church here in this ward that is super awesome! She doesn't really care what other people think, only her relationship with God. So that's something I've been working on since meeting her, is being more like her in the sense that I'm going to forgo others opinions in order to get right with God at all Costs, and I'd invite each of you to think and pray and ponder on that same thought.

Love you all so much and hope you have a great week! We'll see you next time!

A train, a mousetrap and a flaming basketball!

Hello everyone! How're we doing today?! This week has gone by super fast. We have a couple nights out of the week that are designated for sports (we bring nonmembers and share messages afterwards) so Wednesday is basketball night and Saturday is soccer Night. Wednesday of this last week we didn't get out of basketball until 9:45-ish. (we need to be home by 10 but it's recommended by 9:30) so it gets to be 9:57 and we're on the road that goes home, then we realize a train is going by- extremely slowly and there's no other road that goes to our house so we had to wait and watch for like 10 mins while this slow train creeped by and prevented us from going home.

Elder Bowers found an unused mousetrap under the sink and then decided it'd be fun to see what it felt like so there's definitely videos of him putting his finger on a trap.

The flaming basketball is as expected with 19, 20, and 21 year old guys who have a lighter and some aerosol. But it made for some sweet pictures!

Those are the exciting things from this last week, can't wait to update you with whatever this week brings😁

Love you all hope you have a blessed day and you let Christ into your life a little more today.
                         Love you lots,

Back in Washington!

Okay this week has been CRAZY! So transfers happened which means on Wednesday I made the trek all the way back to Washington. There were a bunch of complications (mainly me having too much junk to move) that made the process a little longer than normal.😁 After being crammed in the front seat holding a suitcase on my lap we eventually made it to Medical Lake.

I got to meet Elder Bowers-one of my new companions, and then we went and got Elder Crowl from his old apartment. For those of you who don't know, Elder Crowl is one of my best friends from down in Lewiston from 18 months ago. This week of the transfer so far has been a blast and a half.

We've met a handful of people from recent converts to people we're teaching and even ward members and I love all of them so much already!

Quick thought of the day: if you want to receive personal revelation you need to provide your mind with doctrine. The spirit will tell you the truths of all things, but he cannot draw from an empty well. So fill up those wells with spiritual knowledge!

Love you all and I'll talk to you next week!

Transfer time once again!

 Hello everyone!

This transfer is a little funky, I won't be in Idaho anymore but I'm going right back to the same zone I was in before. I covered downtown Spokane 6 months ago and now I'll be about 15 mins down the freeway from there. I'm sad to be leaving White Pines but they're all in good hands, also sad I'll be leaving Elder McCoy but he's growing up and he'll do great here. I'm super stoked because I'm going to be companions with Elder Crowl who I knew down in Lewiston in July of 2019! We get along really well and he's one of my favorites!

This week we made a new friend! He is actually genuinely interested and curious about the church so we got him started off with a fresh copy of the Book of Mormon and he's on his way now! We were able to answer a bunch of his questions and teach him the whole Restoration! (kinda sad I have to leave now, he seems like he'd be an awesome person to hang around with)

That's all from Post Falls, next week we'll be checking in from Four Lakes WA.
                      Love you all,
                           Elder Henry.

Facebook actually works?

 How's it going everyone?!

This week was a doozy- we had zone conference which was a blast. Some Elders in our district are looking like they've got the Covid. *cough cough Edler Morgan* I got to see Elder Eich which was super awesome. We laughed way too hard for way too long about the good ol days back in downtown Spokane.

Also a crazy miracle! So to all of you missionaries who don't think Facebook works, then you need to just keep on keeping on. We messaged this local guy here in Post Falls and ended up setting up a place to meet, he just wanted to meet new people like we do! After talking for a little while we were able to find out he wants to know more about his family history (like everyone does) so we chatted about that and are hooking him up with our family history consultant in the ward! If that's not picture perfect, I don't know what is!

Other than that, nothing too crazy happened this week, just a grind like usual. Hope everyone keeps making money moves out there and does all the stuff that makes you great! Love you all talk to you next week!
                                     Lots of love

Cat food and a trench coat

So this week has been awesome! We've done a whole bunch of service including undoing some service from earlier in the week. Sister Christensen dared me to eat some canned cat food so I did. Almost threw up, don't suggest it. Went over to a friend's house to make a chess set and I ended up with a free trench coat because he knew I was looking to find one! Super cool of him, then we made more chess pieces-super excited to send pictures of when it's done. Love you all have a good week!

              Talk to you soon!

Snow, slush, and then nothing....

Hello everyone! This last week was a mess! It snowed and snowed and snowed some more. Then it rained and snowed more so we were looking at ice and slush for a while. We went out as a district and shoveled water and snow for one morning which was super fun! It even ended up in a slush fight where I was the main target for some reason! It rained more and everything melted and got cleared up. I've gotten some really cool revelation through the spirit while teaching some AWESOME members in our ward. This was in relation to the Book of Mormon and the influence it should have on our lives. All I can say is that it's a book every person should read. It teaches men to do good regardless of what your thoughts opinions or beliefs are this book will bring you closer to Christ and our Heavenly Father. I have some hefty goals for 2021 including learning a bunch of scriptures, reading a lot of scriptures and making this full year of missionary work the most productive it can be! I hope all of your holidays were amazing and that you were able to see some light in your lives. If you need a little extra just email me and I'll try to brighten up your day! This week has been one that I've loved every second of being a missionary and I'm excited to see what's in store for next week!

Love you all and miss you all hope to see you sooner than later!

Christmas, now New Year 12/28/20

As a mission we have been challenged to read 9 pages of the Book of Mormon starting Nov 1, enabling us to read the entire book and finish when this year ends. Some things that I've read this week that are super cool is a lot of Christ ministering to the Nephites (3 Nephi starting in chapter 11, if you want to read it)

We were sharing this section with a part member family in the ward and the wife (not a member) was able to understand so many things after reading through that. It was so amazing to see how eye opening Christ's atonement can be.

If there's one thing that I've learned in a week of training a new missionary, it's that I overlook a lot of the things we as missionaries have the opportunity to know and understand. I also definitely take for granted all the growth I've made since my first transfer because Elder McCoy is so much farther than I was and there's still so much I feel like I can help him with.

I love you all and I just want to testify of the power the Book of Mormon has. I hate reading, and the Book of Mormon was no different just because I saw it as a chore. But since I've been sincerely reading each day I can say that it's changed my whole day from start to finish and things I've asked for help with have been answered. I say that and I profess my love for this book and this gospel!

Love you all talk to you soon!

This week....Oh boy 12/21/20

Hello there everyone! There has been some madness since my last weekly so buckle up.

So last Monday we found out I'm staying in Post Falls (whoop whoop) which officially makes me the most senior missionary to this zone this transfer.

Tuesday, a wonderful family in the ward threw me a surprise birthday party! We had cake and there were decorations, it was a blast!

Wednesday I said goodbye to ALL of my friends from this zone, shout out to Edler Morris, Sister Palmer, Elder Bott, Sister Bowden, Elder Neerings, Elder Giles, and Sister Ethington. Thanks for making this zone the best I love you all and miss you, the Zone isn't the same. But I also got to meet my new trainee on Wednesday which was super fun. He's a stud and a half.

On Thursday, Elder McCoy and I went out knocking and I played a little trick on him. I knew where a member lived and I gave him the contact so that he was in charge. Thankfully Bro Estes played along without needing a heads up. Our big ex MMA fighting member who's bald, covered in tattoos and has a big ol beard opens the door and just went along with it. It was perfect!

Friday we had our ward Christmas party where we as missionaries served food, it was super fun! The young women's leader didn't let us leave without WAY TOO MUCH ham that was left over.

Saturday was pretty bland, we went on exchanges with some other Elders (switched companions for the day) and I got to learn a lot about Facebook work.

Yesterday was a sweet Sunday birthday with a Christmas church service as well as the insane news about my younger sister. So Saturday her and dad were out shooting and with a 9m in hand she went to check a target. She tripped and the gun went off and she shot herself in the leg. She's 100% okay, she's even walking. The bullet went straight through and missed bone and artery. So that was some interesting news to hear from my mission president in the middle of sacrament. I just about broke down before I heard all the details. 😂

Then today is my 9 month mark (pregnancy pictures are a thing for missionaries so I've gotta take those)😂
Today is also a mini p-day since we have Christmas on Friday off.

That's a little rundown of my week. Hopefully it was crazier than yours. I'll talk to you all soon love you lots!
                       Love,
                            Elder Henry.

I'm going to be a trainer!

 Monday, December 14, 2020

This week we have transfers, right before Christmas and all the fun stuff!

I found out yesterday that I'm going to be getting a new companion. By new I mean BRAND NEW he hasn't been in the field yet. I'll be training him and introducing him into the mission life.

I'm so excited to start off this new year and continue this wonderful season of lighting the world!

I'm staying here in Post Falls and it's going to be such a blast! Other than that this week has been pretty slow and not SUPER eventful.

I'll hopefully have a bunch for you next week. Talk to you soon! Love you all!

Special mission story

Here's something I bet most to no other missionaries will be able to say happened on their mission. My companion got his wisdom teeth out this week. For the last few days, I've been a dental assistant and a nanny to make sure he stays up on his pain meds and doesn't eat anything that will mess with the stitches or the healing. While he was still loopy I was even the one who had to change out his gauze.

Other than that we were able to have zone conference which, let me tell you, the Christmas edition was over the top awesome. Especially because we got to surprise a bunch of people and see them when we normally wouldn't.

This season is the best especially to spread the light of Christ which is what the Light the World movement is all about. So my challenge to all of you is to look into it, search it up and follow the calendar. If you can only do a couple days then that's fine. The entire point is to bring light to everyone and spread it to the corners of the world in these weird times. So go check out the calendar and try to follow along in serving your fellow men. I can promise there will be more blessings and ability to understand the love of Christ than you've ever seen before. Our Savior can be a beacon of hope but he doesn't have to do it alone, he can use each of you to reach more and more people.

That's all I've got this week

                       See you soon

                                Love you all,

                                           Elder Henry.
